The Past 2 Months

Happy New Year! It was a busy holiday season for us, resulting in more family time and not a lot of blog action. Having 3, 4 and under is no joke most of the time... so when I find myself in bed with a mimosa, the two littles asleep and the big at the movies with her grandma... it just feels like the time to update! 🤪

Kicked off the day after Halloween with Christmas jams!! I am definitely one to celebrate one holiday at a time... but it had just dropped in temps and gave us a little snow... so I HAD to bust out the holiday jammies!

Called my mom over in early November to take some Christmas pictures for our holiday card. I'm obsessed with buffalo check and was pumped to get all the kids super cute outfits from Old Navy!
I have an online shopping problem with Old Navy. It is real.

Lennon's Bow

The two littles wearing Eversyn's old Thanksgiving outfits. Alden remains pumped about life in general. Lennon was also 3 months old this day!

We host Thanksgiving each year. Sometimes we have a big gathering, sometimes it's smaller. This year it was on the smaller side. This is probably my 4th year making the turkey and it is still intimidating! It's a BIG job and if something goes wrong with the THANKSGIVING TURKEY?! No pressure!😰
I always follow my culinary God's advice (Ina Garten) and use this recipe:
Perfect Roast Turkey
It never fails and feels TOO easy. Also, no jarred gravy here. You have to make the real deal. It's worth it!

Day after Thanksgiving. Ah, a tree with a toddler. How often can a person say, "No touch!" and "Look with your eyes, not your hands!"🤦🏻‍♀️
Alden got used to having Christmas trees in the house...and the bottom halves of our trees became more and more bare as the season went on.

Alden's Outfit here!

Living in NWI, A Christmas Story is kind of a big deal. It takes place in "Hohman, Indiana" which is a fictional version of real life Hammond..which is in the region where I grew up.

We go and see Santa at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond.. and it is decked out in Christmas Story cheer! The Santa Mountain is a replica from the movie and they have animatronic scenes from the movie set up throughout the Welcome Center. It is SO fun! This is our go-to Santa spot.

Alden honestly did better than we thought he would. There were tears, but he was a trooper. Eversyn was more into it than she appears. Being 4, she can also be hit or miss... DON'T EVEN suggest she go see the Easter Bunny. That is a hands off topic!
Though she was a little shy, she made sure Santa heard, loud and clear, that she wanted the Barbie Dream House this year. #lordhelpme

So fun! And second appearance of those buffalo check outfits!

My littles ready to go watch their big sister in her Christmas program!
Lennon's onesie was Evie's... I couldn't find it last year for Alden (found it RIGHT after Christmas, of course!) But it is here

My little #bossbabe. This girl is gonna move mountains.

December calls for ALL of the cookie making! I love this recipe so much! It makes a ton of cookies, pretty quickly. They stay soft, too! I'm thinking of making Valentine's cookies just to have them again.

And just like that, Lennon turns 4 months old. Time is FLYING with this girl!

Excuse the Instagram Story picture... but Christmas Eve Eve we made some festive pancakes, thanks to the inspiration of one of my favorite bloggers of all time, Jessica Garvin. She is the queen of all things holiday!

Christmas Eve, we said "SEE YA" to our elf, Lulu. I am not a big, over the top, elf person. My kids like to find the elf in the morning. Ours isn't too mischievous and we are all okay with that.💁🏻‍♀️

Christmas morning ♥️

Both girls' dresses are from a local thrift store!♥️♥️♥️

It was a long few days...

My favorite gift <3 Stacking rings from my love!

A girl and her dog.🐶👧🏼

Leni got this hat from my mom.. and I LOVE it! I promptly had her order 2 more for the other 2 kids. Give me all of the monogrammed things!
I don't have a link, since it was a gift, but I know she found them on Groupon.

Living where we do, we are super close to Chicago. One day after Christmas we took Alden and Evie on the train to the city. We saw the giant tree at Macy's Walnut Room...

Stopped at Dylan's Candy Bar... (and I think we have arrived at the awkward "Smile!" phase of life with Evie)🤣

Then lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Where Alden was straight up terrified.😳

As I made my January calendar, I wrote, "Lennon: 5 Months" on the 22nd... HOW is this girl almost a half year old?!?! 😭😭😭

And then we rang in 2019 with some festive donuts!!
Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope it's your best yet!
